Fashion Titan Giorgio Armani’s Obsession With Felines

Seeing a cat at the heart of a Giorgio Armani campaign comes as no surprise. The fashion titan’s obsession with felines is well-documented and famous throughout the fashion world.

While designers like Karl Lagerfeld famously doted on single feline muses, Armani’s obsession with felines is rooted in his personal living spaces and quiet, private moments away from the frenzy of the catwalk. Over the decades, his homes in Milan and remote retreats have played host to several beloved felines, including Scottish Folds like Angel and Mairi, and his cherished Persian, Charlie.

Armani has frequently cited cats as the ultimate masters of poise and self-assurance. He has long admired their refusal to compromise their independence. It’s a philosophy that translates directly into his relaxed, unrestrictive tailoring designed to let human bodies move with feline ease. Beyond his home life, he has also used his global platform to advocate for animal welfare and anti-abandonment campaigns.

“I love cats because they’re a mirror of my personality. You have to earn their trust. They never come to you right away. They’re capable of immense love and affection, but it takes time to get there. I’m just like that. Moreover, cats are very elegant, discreet creatures. They’re also extremely lazy, which I am not, and that adds an element to my fascination.” – Giorgio Armani.

Following Armani’s passing in September 2025 at the age of 91, the fashion house honored his legacy and obsession with felines by heavily featuring cats across prominent Giorgio Armani fashion campaigns, the latest being it’s Fall/Winter 2026–27 spread with a Russian Blue as model.
